Relationship between eating habit and cancer

Studies have shown that high-fat, animal-based foods are associated with colon, breast and endometrial cancers. Lack of exercise and obesity may also contribute to the incidence of these cancers.

The change in the eating habits of Hong Kong people is suspected to be related to the rise of cancer incidence locally. According to statistics from the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, the food consumption patterns in Hong Kong have changed significantly in the past 40 years. On a per-person basis, in the past 40 years, meat consumption has increased tenfold, butter has increased fourfold, while vegetables and fruits have only tripled, but the consumption of grain were only 80% of that 40 years ago. From the perspective of modern medicine, diet of high-fat, high animal meat, less fruits and vegetables, less cereals is very unhealthy, and is more likely to increase cases of breast, colon, endometrial and prostate cancers. This theory has also been endorsed by the World Cancer Research Fund and the World Health Organization.
